GVTC has met the technical team of the East African Community present in Montreal, Canada, for the 15th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity on December 12th, 2022. The East African Team was led by Eng. Ladislaus Kyaruzi Leonidas, Principal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, while the Delegation of GVTC was headed by Dr. Andrew G. Seguya, GVTC Executive Secretary.
At the request of the Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration Executive Secretariat, this meeting was organized in order to explore ways of collaboration on the matter of mutual interest, especially wildlife conservation and Tourism development.
They have recognized that this collaboration has long overdue, given that the Democratic Republic also has joined the East African Community.
They have paved the way for how to build and take forward this collaboration. Responsibilities were determined and shared for proper follow-up.
GVTC Executive Secretariat looks forward to this collaboration and commits to strengthening it and taking it on.
