The Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration Treaty provides a clear governance structure and operating modalities of the GVTC governance organs:
GVTC Board: comprising of two representatives of each of the Ministries responsible for wildlife management and tourism development pf Partner States and one of them is from the wildlife management agency. Its responsibility is:
- To execute the decisions of the Council of Ministers
- To consider and recommend to the Council of the Ministers the budgets, work plans, programs, and projects from the Executive Secretariat
- To appoint, discipline and or dismiss other staff of the Executive Secretariat other than the Executive Secretary and the Deputies
- To recommend the withdrawal of Executive Secretary and the Deputies to the Council of Ministers for failure to fulfill their obligations
- To directly supervise and ensure the proper running of the Executive Secretariat by the Executive Secretary,… it seats twice a year
