Amazing wonders to explore !!!!!!! Friendly park staff who take care of everything to make your experience unique.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the smallest National Park of Uganda.  It covers an area of 33.7 km2. The Park’s most prominent features are the three of the Virunga’s six extinct cones. These are Muhabura (4127m), Sabinyo (3669m) and Gahinga (3474m). Despite being small, the park is an area of high biodiversity, high endemism and an important water catchment. It is habitat to over 40 known species of mammals including the endangered mountain gorillas and rare golden monkeys, over 100 species of birds including some Albertine Rift endemics, diverse vegetation types including woodlands, bamboo forest and afro-alpine and ericaceous among others.

Muhabura Volcano is amazing.

The bottomless pit is found in this park and is considered as the breather of the earth! It is wonderful!

In a bid to offer a new experience to all age groups, UWA established a mountain camp at 3,850 m asl comprising two mountain huts with the capacity to accommodate up to 16 persons, a kitchen and a toilet for a night stop over before ascent to the peak of Mountain Muhabura. The new experience allows for meals to be prepared at the resting hut and the camp making the hike comfortable and enjoyable. Porters and a cook to support you in the expedition to summit Muhabura can be got from the community group

The two day hiking experience costs the same rate for the normal hiking but an additional $20 and 25,000 for accommodation is charged on foreign visitors and local visitors respectively. The package however excludes cost of a porter(s) carrying personal effects, food and a cook. These are organized directly with the service providers (porters).

Gorilla permits in Uganda are sold to registered tour operators with Uganda Tourism Board.  One can approach any of the tour operators to purchase the permits. Domestic tourists and foreign residents are allowed to purchase the permits by themselves without using the tour operators.

All permits are purchased from UWA reservations office in Kampala and the clients have to produce evidence of payment at the tracking point (receipts and a gorilla permit).

UWA is implementing a non cash payment and payments are done either by direct banking, using a visa card or by mobile money –airtel and mtn.
