It is very important to be part of these discussions, especially that biodiversity protection is on GVTC's agenda despite a number of threats:

  1.  High population density/Poor population depending on natural resources
  2. Climate change and invasive species affecting habitat.
  3. Insecurity in the region
  4. Limited financial resources for sustainable conservation.
  5. Infrastructure development
  6. Natural disasters and diseases
  7. Human-wildlife crimes: poaching, crop raiding, encroachment...

GVTC will strive to voice out this, but also to do whatever it is in its capacity for biodiversity protection within the Greater Virunga Landscape.
