"Conservation should be the centre for sustainable development."

This is the message from the IUCN Country Representative of Rwanda and Regional Strategic Partnerships and Programme Development Coordinator during a meeting between IUCN and Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration represented by Dr. Andrew G. Seguya, Executive Secretary, held on 14th March 2023, at IUCN Country Office in Kigali.

The two Heads of institutions have discussed matters of common interest, including building a strong collaboration to achieve biodiversity conservation agenda within the Greater Virunga Landscape, which is the geographical scope of GVTC.

These two officials have agreed on urgent activities to undertake to achieve that goal. Areas of collaboration were discussed, but these will be streamlined and finalized in the near future. Focal persons on both sides were appointed to speed up the process.
