It is headed by the Executive Secretary designated by a Partner State other than the one hosting the Secretariat, for a non-renewable period of four years on a rotational basis.<br \/>\nThe Deputy Executive Secretaries are from each of the Partner States other than the one holding the position of Executive Secretary and they serve for a period of four years renewable only once.<br \/>\nThe GVTC Executive Secretary is under the general supervision of the Board.<br \/>\nIt is a body corporate in accordance with the requisite laws of the host Partner State.<\/p>\n<p>The GVTC Executive Secretariat is responsible to the Board for the following functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To implement on a day-to-day basis, the plans, programs and strategies of the Transboundary Collaboration<\/li>\n<li>To implement decisions of the Summit, the Council of Ministers and the Board for better implementation of the GVTC Treaty<\/li>\n<li>To arrange meetings of the Summit, Council of Ministers, Board and other Committees,<\/li>\n<li>To coordinate scientific and technical studies for better implementation of the Treaty<\/li>\n<li>To solicit for funds of implementation of the Treaty<\/li>\n<li>To bring to the attention of the Partner States and make recommendations on any matter pertaining to the objectives of the Treaty<\/li>\n<li>To regularly publish and distribute the state of the Transboundary Protected Areas under the Treaty<\/li>\n<li>To prepare annual plans, budgets and reports for implementation of the Treaty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_media_grid grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1678810366720-85455304-304d-0&#8243; include=&#8221;976&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1656925242357{background-color: #ffffff !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration Treaty provides a clear governance structure and operating modalities of the GVTC governance organs: The Transboundary Executive Secretariat,<span class=\"excerpt-hellip\"> [\u2026]<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":976,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_joinchat":[],"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.6 -
