On the 25th October 2016, at GVTC Headquarters, GVTC has organized a Technical Designate Meeting that generally takes place one day before the Board of Directors meeting. Indeed, this is planned for the 26th October 2016, in Kigali (Rwanda). Participants at this meeting are Technical Designates from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), Rwanda Development Board (RDB), and Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN-RDC).
Mr. Fidele Ruzigandekwe, the Deputy Executive Secretary in Charge of Programs, welcomed participants at GVTC and in Rwanda, and told them to feel at home. It should be mentioned that this Technical Designate Meeting was chaired by Mr. Telesphore Ngoga, GVTC Technical Designate from RDB, Rwanda.
In his opening remarks, Dr Muamba Tshibasu Georges, the GVTC Executive Secretary, thanked Technical Designates for having responded positively to the invitation they got from the President of GVTC Board,to participate in this meeting that precedes the Board of Directors’ meeting.
The GVTC Executive Secretary reminded participants how this meeting is so important since it aims at discussing the agenda subjects to be presented to the GVTC Board of Directors ‘meeting so that the Directors may make information-based decisions. In regards of this, participants were invited to go through different documents submitted to them by GVTC, debate and develop recommendations for some relevant subjects. Dr Georges Muamba said he was aware that several documents have been submitted to the Technical Designates by GVTC , but he admitted that such documents may reinforce the GVTC capacities management and allow this intergovernmental institution become more credible vis-à-vis other institutions.
The discussion documents presented by GVTC were namely the Annual report, the Sarambwe Report, the Climate Change Strategy, the Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA), Monitoring & Evaluation Framework, the Fundraising Strategy, and the GVTC Flag.
