On Wensday, the 27th April 2016, in the morning, the Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration (GVTC) was honored by the visit of Professor Alphonse Ntumba Luaba, the Executive Secratry of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). It should be noticed that ICGLR is one of the GVTC key-partners and its Executive Secretary has provided GVTC with considerable support especially during the negotiations process between DRC, Rwanda & Uganda leading to the signing of the Treaty of the Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration on Wildlife Conservation and Tourism Development in September 2015, in Kinshasa (DRC). In his message engraved within GVTC visitors ‘book , Professor Alphonse Ntumba Luaba thanked GVTC staff members for the work they are performing in the region and encouraged them to move forward in this noble mission.
The institutional partnership between GVTC, ICGLR, and CEPGL was sealed in 2014 through a Memorandum of Understanding which aims at establishing a permanent framework for cooperation between the parties in the domains of environment protection, conflicts prevention, and sustainable development in the Great Lakes Region, including the promotion of integrated projects in the above mentioned areas.
