On the 8th February 2018, the Technical Designates of GVTC together with the staff members of this Intergovernmental Organization between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda and Uganda held their meeting at GVTC Head Quarters. This meeting is prior to the GVTC Board meeting planned in Kigali (Rwanda), on the 14th February 2018.
The Technical Designates meeting aimed at preparing strategic work documents to be sent for approval to the members of GVTC Board of Directors whose session is planned to be held in Kigali, on the 14th February 2018. This latter is prior to the Council of Ministers’ meeting that will be held in Kigali, on the 15th February 2018. The Line Ministers attending this Council meeting are namely the Minister of Environment of DRC, the Minister of Trade & Industry of Rwanda, and the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities of Uganda. Indeed, according to the GVTC Treaty signed by the three countries, the main organs of GVTC are the Summit of Heads of States, the Council of Ministers, the Board of Directors, the Executive Secretary, etc.
During these GVTC strategic meeting planned in February 2018, the concern of the ratification and domestication of GVTC Treaty by the three States Parties is on the agenda. Indeed, this Treaty, once ratified and domesticated, will provide GVTC with more credibility and opportunities vis-à-vis potential donors and partners, in terms of fundraising and implementation of conservation and development programs in the Greater Virunga Landscape.
